What Sweden REALLY Thinks of America

This is going to be a rocky ride! I decided to list things that Sweden thinks about the US - including both positive and negative things. Is America the best country in the world? Or is it a developing country wearing a Gucci belt? Sweden has a lot of different thoughts about that.

There's of course no single answer to what Sweden thinks of America. Sweden is filled with different people who all have different opinions - but you can identify certain trends at the very least. In this video I combine my own thoughts and reflections, with commonly held stereotypes and opinions in Sweden. So take it all with a bucket of salt or two.

Things brought up in this video includes:
The US believes in violence and "might makes right" to a much higher degree than Sweden, and there's also a lot more focus on the military
The lack of cohesiveness regarding the legal age of things is something Swedes find very confusing. Especially for something that's supposed to be one country
Americans are more outgoing than Swedes. This is sometimes seen as a negative thing, but deep down I think most Swedes really appreciate it
Swedes are also in awe of American technology and innovations. Science and technology is something Sweden holds dear, after all
However, the fact that so many Americans are deeply religious is completely the opposite to secular Sweden. Sweden is in the top 5 atheist countries in the world
And of course, American patriotism and jingoism is totally different from the Swedish way of thinking
Swedes admire American culture, however, and we import all kinds of culture and trends from the US
Swedish welfare is known to be rooted in socialism (very far back), and it differs from the American way of thinking on a fundamental level

And a lot more. I'm also bringing up US military influence on the world, views on sports, and a lot more.

All in all, the US is a great place to visit. But would Swedes want to live there...? You'll have to watch the video to find out.
