6. Crowd carrying Iraqi and Shia militias backed by Iran flags

STORYLINE:
Followers of an alliance of Iran-backed Shia political groups and militias in Iraq held a protest in Baghdad on Friday amid the latest Israel-Hamas war.

The demonstration by members of the Coordination Framework was held near a main entrance to the heavily fortified Green Zone where the US and most foreign embassies are based.

Protesters waved Iraqi and the Popular Mobilization Fighters (PMF) flags and banners during their demonstration.

The war that is in its 14th day Friday is the deadliest of five Gaza wars for both sides.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said Thursday that 4,137 Palestinians have been killed and over 13,000 wounded.

More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed, mostly in the initial attack Oct. 7 when Hamas militants stormed into Israel.

In addition, 203 people were believed captured by Hamas during the incursion and taken into Gaza, the Israeli military has said.
