We caught up with Matt Hauser just days before he went on to win the World Triathlon Championship title in Wollongong.
At the time of this interview, Matt was already one of the leading athletes in world triathlon. An Olympic representative and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, he had built a reputation as one of the toughest and most consistent competitors on the WTCS circuit.
In this conversation, Matt talks about his background, his approach to racing, and what it meant to be preparing for a world championship on home soil. The interview is led by Craig “Crowie” Alexander, three-time Ironman World Champion and widely regarded as one of Australia’s greatest ever triathletes.
This interview was recorded a few days before Matt’s breakthrough win at the World Triathlon Championships in Wollongong on Sunday 19th October.
Thank you to Maurten and Crowie for helping us bring this together.
