ঘরোয়া পদ্ধতিতে টাকি মাছের শুঁটকি বানাতে হলে টাকি মাছ পরিষ্কার করে কেটে রোদে শুকানোই মূল উপায়, তবে সহজ পদ্ধতির জন্য মাছ ছোট করে কেটে হলুদ মাখিয়ে কয়েকদিন রোদে শুকিয়ে নিন, মাঝে উল্টে দিন, যতক্ষণ না শক্ত ও শুকনো হয়; এরপর ব্যবহারের আগে হালকা গরম পানিতে ভিজিয়ে, পরিষ্কার করে রান্না করুন ।
