3rd time I filmed at Southwark on the Jubilee Line and first since March 23rd last year.
When the Jubilee Line Extension was planned to run via Waterloo and London Bridge there was no plans for a station at Southwark. however after lobbying from Southwark Council it was eventually constructed.
The station itself designed by Sir Richard MacCormac located on Blackfriars Road and the Cut with it being just 0.25 miles from Waterloo which is the shortest distance between stations on the Jubilee Line
The main reason for Southwark being built was to enable a much more easier interchange with nearby Waterloo East station which is served by Southeastern Trains from London Charing Cross.
During construction to overcome the technical and architectural difficulties two different concourses of the station was constructed at different two levels in particular the upper concourse features a glass roof that allows daylight into the station.
It opened on Saturday November 20th 1999 which on the same day the Charing Cross Jubilee Line Platforms closed and also the connection of the Jubilee Line Extension between Waterloo and Green Park was completed as well as opening of the DLR extension from Mudchute to Lewisham.
The station entrance on the Cut was originally designed to enable a property development to being built above the station although
at the time of filming that along with a 2nd entrance was being considered although no agreements so far has been reached.
Filmed on iPhone 8 and edited on iMovie
