There have been a lot of questions posted about the BMW i8 hybrid battery. Viewers are interested in the high voltage battery warranty, how long the hybrid battery will last, how to tell if the BMW i8 high voltage battery is still good, what percentage of the battery is used, what percentage of the total capacity is usable and how BMW i8 service centers test the high voltage battery. The BMW i8 high voltage hybrid battery is in an enclosure under the center console of the car and consists of 6 high voltage lithium ion modules. Each of these modules can have a failure or degrade, separately. BMW warranty will cover the high voltage battery replacement of those modules which are causing the overall hybrid battery capacity to drop below 70%. But, your BMW i8 only uses 70% of the capacity available for longevity. I'll discuss how BMW tests your battery and how you can display your battery percentage on the instrument cluster.
