Today on the porch we take a look at a few traditional knives offered by the Chinese knife maker Rough Rider knives.
These knives do a lot of the same things as some of our favorite American made brands including bone scales, nickel silver bolsters, brass pins and liners.
However, instead of painstakingly produced in somewhat small numbers, I imagine that these are produced at a much more rapid pace.
The trade off that this brings is apparent in the build quality of some of these knives, especially when it comes to fit and finish. On the other hand, when you are talking $8 - $18 or so per knife, the conversation gets more interesting.
These knives are great for trying out new patterns without much investment. I plan to pick one up once in a while when I have that new knife urge, but my budget doesn't have room for a new GEC!
If you have an experience with these knives to share, then please do!
The knives shown here are as follows:
RR1422 Cotton Sampler in Appaloosa Bone
RR1080 Electrician's knife in Amber Jig Bone
RR112 Peanut knife Smooth White Bone
