Kedarkantha Trek Uttarakhand, How to do this in 2024?

Kedarkantha (not to be confused with the popular Temple Kedarnath) is a 6-day long trek in Govind Pashu Vihar National Park in Uttarakhand (6 when including the travel days from Dehradun to the base camp and back). Kedarkantha is easily one of the most popular treks in India — popular amongst seasoned trekkers and beginners alike.

I did this trek in the month of January with the searching souls, if you are planning to do this trek on your own make sure you keep few things in your mind.


did this trek with a trek agency which cost around 7-8k which includes everything from
travel,food, micro spikes and gaiters which is very essential at snow trek, if you want to do this trek on your own you have to be extra prepared as you will manage your food, tents everything on your own.

*Carry your own tents, equipment, food.
Dhabbas are available on the way

*Permits- One tent permission can cost you
*200-300 per day
Individual permit cost- P150-200 for entire trek
Local guide is essential as it's a wildlife sanctuary and weather can be unpredictable any time.
Local guide cost is 1000 per day
These prices may vary from season to season, best time to do this trek is between January- February

It's a difficult level trek so make sure you prepare your body accordingly.
Start the prep 2 months before so that your body can be fit for high altitude.
