Even more worthwhile is the live “iron fireworks” show. The special technique of incorporating molten iron into a fireworks show requires great skill that has developed over a thousand years. The Spring Festival season is the golden time to visit Situ Town. The high-hung lanterns create a richly festive atmosphere as you stroll slowly down the quaint streets. There are also other folk performances like lion and dragon dances, stilt-walkers, and boat dances. Situ Town also has an “iron fireworks” troop. At dusk, over a thousand people simultaneously set off iron fireworks, and it looks as though heavenly maidens are scattering heavenly blossoms, a marvelous sight.
