Martin Küttner leads through the biodegradation lab at Fraunhofer IKTS, where the quality of cardiovascular stents is tested. For this he demonstrates a fluid dynamic system for the in-vitro testing of stents. The stents age in this setup outside the human body, while parameters like artificial blood flow and pressure, pH value or chemical content of the test fluid are permanently controlled and adapted. Afterwards the degradation and corrosion behavior of the stents will be further investigated. These tests are prerequisite for in-vivo tests.
