This is not a camping video.
When there was 40–50 cm of snow on the ground, I took my backpack and went into the fir forests with my dog.
Knowing that there is about a 5°C temperature difference between open areas and the forest, and that it would be easier to find firewood, we went as deep into the forest as we could.
But the snow never stopped.
It snowed day and night for 2 days straight.
Strong winds kept dumping the snow accumulated on the treetops down on us.
I built a shelter using only a tarp.
It was just big enough for me and my dog, designed to withstand the harsh conditions.
I lit a fire, and to keep the snow from falling onto it, I built a roof-like cover using logs and branches.
However, the storm was so severe that it was impossible to fully enclose the fire.
As the snow depth increased every hour, I couldn’t carry large logs to feed the fire, yet I had to keep it burning constantly.
By the end of the second day, the snow depth was close to 1 meter.
Because the snow was fresh, I was sinking almost every step, and the depth made movement extremely difficult.
I didn’t sleep at all during those two days.
I had to keep working, watching the fire, and focusing on survival.
It was the most terrifying snowstorm I have ever experienced.
There is no staging in this video.
No exaggeration.
Only nature, the storm, and a fight to survive.
If you were in my place, would you try to leave the forest, or choose to stay and keep the fire alive no matter what?
winter survival, real snowstorm, extreme cold, survival with dog
