Explanation of a procedure removing a part of a kidney which usually involves a tumor or cancer. A robotic platform is used to help the surgeon laparoscopically perform minimally-invasive dissection of the diseased portion of the kidney, thus sparing the good or normal functioning portion of the kidney. Kidney tumors used to be treated with the entire removal of the kidney. Now we can save the kidney by just removing the bad part of the kidney and sewing the kidney back up.
