Each summer a film festival is held in the amphitheatre and attracts a glamorous crowd. One of the lesser known sites is the puppet opera. Sicily is famous for its puppets and puppet operas can be found in Siracusa and Catania and there is a museum in Siracusa. Art lovers should visit the Church of Santa Lucia in Syracusa which contains a masterpiece by Caravaggio who sought refuge on the island after fleeing Rome.
