NHA TRANG, Vietnam 2025 Hon Tam Resort (Silk Island). walk around vid + random rants

NOT A TRAVEL VLOG ~~~ !!!
Just me walking around Hòn Tằm Resort, Nha Trang on Hon Tam Island (Silk Island). I hope this video finds its way to those who wanted to find out more specifically about Hon Tam Island and the only 5 star resort itself located here.

TLDR: NOT WORTH STAYING!!! stay away from this old run down so called "5 star" resort. Why??:

PROS:

Beautiful beach, clean white sands and peaceful/quiet. Water is extremely clear. Good for a vacation if youre with your family and children and over 50 years old !!! staffs are friendly

CONS:

Old furniture/appliances
Resort people try to charge you if you bring foods/drinks from mainland Nha Trang city onto the island (monopoly issue)
Limited menu at the restaurant as well as general activities
Not easy to go back and forth from the island to mainland and speed boat schedule doesnt offer late night trips
Dead quiet at night, empty resort with old local tourists that swim in the public pool with shoes on lol.
Staff members dont want to help you bring the suitcases onto the boat after you check out. (they helped with great smiles when we checked in, as soon as we checked out they didnt even bother to help anymore).

The resort is the only one located on Hon Tam Island, there isn't much of entertainment or night life or ANYTHING around it besides the mud bath area on the other side of the island. Mud bath is also a one and done kinda thing, nobody really comes back to do it again and again its just a tourist attraction/trap in a way. Yeah the minerals and all the good stuff in the mud bath is great but not something you wanna keep spending $ on.

Back to the resort thing: the place is old, a lot of appliances inside the villa we stayed was old, AC broke down twice during my stay while electricity also went out twice and we were moved to a different villa. Bathroom was not fully cleaned, a few area had dead bugs chilling in there. On our last night employees forced their way into our room twice to remind us that we had to check out at noon when it's not even noon yet.

Foods/services: Breakfast and lunch was standard, not bad at all. Basically it's all you can eat so there's a variety of dishes to choose from. Dinner menu at Sea breeze restaurant is very limited, lack of a lot of sea food dishes even though being next to the ocean is a BIG LET DOWN imo and since there is NO restaurant around on the island, we had to endure this for a few days. Service was great, the restaurant staff treated us well.

Speedboat service to go from Hon Tam island to mainland (Nha Trang city): free of charge, multiple trips every hour or two to go back to mainland and return with 9:30PM being the last one to go back from mainland to the island. If you are gonna be hanging out at a bar it is not ideal because there will be no boat to get back onto the island after that unless you wanna pay 1.4 million VND each time for a 10 min short boat ride back to the island. Main land Nha Trang city is where all the parties, restaurants and entertainment at, Hon Tam resort is just a tourist trap, good to visit not for staying over night.

Around the island: I walked around the island and everywhere i went, they kept an eye on me, no privacy, cameras everywhere as well as staff driving back and forth on their bike/e scooter while cussing in Vietnamese just chit chatting. Was trying to do a lil bit of day fishing as well as night fishing and got kicked out both times lol. Resort employees tried to charge me an insane amount while telling me Im only allowed to fish for 2 hours then I had to stop ( and still have to pay to just fish, not even by the private beach, just by the abandoned side with overgrowth and random trash outside of the property ).
