Talk's Kevin O'Sullivan is joined by ancient and modern historian Ashley Hern to uncover the mysteries of the Easter Island Statues.
The island appears to have thrived until outside influences started appearing, leading to the downfall of the Rapa Nui inhabitants. Hern suggests that there may not have been a centralised figure demanding the creation of these giant heads, instead they could have been made by smaller competing groups in efforts to 'keep up with the Jones'.
The statues are also by no means identical, with many being carved in different styles.
