Swiftcurrent Mountain and the Fire Lookout at the summit can be a challenging hike. This summit sits in the heart of Glacier and boasts views that can be had from nowhere else in the park or on earth. It is the highest maintained trail in Glacier. We started from the Loop Trailhead on the Going-To-The-Sun Road. You can also get to the summit from Many Glacier or Logan Pass. The Many Glacier and Logan Pass options are longer in miles but less in elevation gain. From the Loop it is just under 13 miles out and back and requires about 4,300 feet of elevation gain. Some of the things you can see from the summit include Heaven's Peak, Mount Gould, Swifcurrent Glacier, the peaks above Iceberg Lake, down the Many Glacier Valley and the valley of a thousand peaks to north to Canada.
