**SPOTLIGHT ON PUNKALIYARRA’S DIGITAL ARTISTS**
In the possibility of an empty stage and the silence of a room unpopulated by lookers-on, it takes a talented group of artists to make the air and walls come to life—to bring the spirits, people, and living into the room in vision and sound, and bring home closer so the amazing women of Punkaliyarra can tell their stories and share their women’s lore.
Developed over a patient 2 years in creative development, this team of artists listened, observed, sat with, and absorbed the place and ancient culture which was generously shared with them.
They worked to allow their individual artistic languages to be a faithful conduit for the leading women of Punkaliyarra, who bring their knowledge, talent and story to the project.
In this post we acknowledge the work of the videographer, photographer, audio artists, composer, animator, and vocal artist who have contributed to this one-of-a-kind piece of storytelling—the performance projection and soundbed.
So far Punkaliyarra has toured in different iterations to Perth Festival (WA), Wiyi Yani U Thangani First Nations Gender Justice Institute Launch (ACT), Giiyong Festival (NSW), All About Women Festival (NSW), and will soon be in Fitzroy Crossing (WA). What is shown above is just a small excerpt of the digital pieces to honour the work of the artist mentors.
For these digital works, we acknowledge the beautiful work of:
Rebecca Riggs-Bennett - Composer & Sound Designer
Peta Roebuck - Animator
Claire Leach - Video Artist
Anna Cadden - Video Editor
Tehya Makani – Vocal Artist
