Vila e município do distrito de Setúbal, ocupada no passado por outras civilizações, o período Romano foi aquele em que atingiu maiores índices de desenvolvimento económico e social. Na 2ª metade do século XIX, apareceram duas atividades que alteraram o perfil económico e social do município: a indústria mineira e a indústria corticeira.
De concelho agrícola, operário e mineiro, Grândola tem vindo a transformar-se gradualmente num espaço de desenvolvimento turístico ao longo do seu litoral. A eterna vila morena imortalizada pela canção que Zeca Afonso lhe dedicou, é também um concelho com uma geografia muito particular que se estende desde a serra, à costa atlântica que conta com 45 quilómetros de praias

Town and municipality in the district of Setúbal, occupied in the past by other civilizations, the Roman period was the one in which it achieved the highest levels of economic and social development. In the second half of the 19th century, two activities appeared that changed the economic and social profile of the municipality: the mining industry and the cork industry.
From an agricultural, working-class and mining municipality, Grândola has gradually transformed into an area of tourist development along its coastline. The eternal dark village immortalized by the song that Zeca Afonso dedicated to it, is also a municipality with a very particular geography that stretches from the mountains to the Atlantic coast, which has 45 kilometers of beaches.
