An Architectural Masterpiece in Mykonos | AIMASIA by A31 Architecture

AIMASIA — a hillside residence in Mykonos, designed by A31 Architecture and filmed in-house by ARC3 PRODUCTION.

This architectural masterpiece is shaped by the raw, untouched character of the island: granite hillsides, historic dry-stone terraces, Cycladic light, and the open Aegean Sea.

AIMASIA takes its name from the ancient Greek word for the island’s terracing system—the dry-stone field walls that enabled farming across the Cyclades. Set on a 14,000 m² plot, the house turns south toward the water while engaging a granite hill lined with culturally protected terraces.

Founder and lead architect Praxitelis Kondylis (A31 Architecture) describes a vision of coexistence with landscape: honoring age-old construction techniques while meeting contemporary comfort. Materiality is deliberately local—granite, white plaster, fair-faced concrete—paired with native planting to create a calm, mineral palette.

Island forces shaped the brief: the Meltemi winds, the mythic proximity of Delos, the coastline’s light and rock. Structural challenges—steep terrain and the suspended monolithic boulders in the staircases—became defining features.
Interior design and art direction by Tom Dixon / Design Research Studio bring a restrained, tactile layer.

AIMASIA is presented as a residence born from its site—where history, nature, and contemporary living align.
