In this video, we’ll dive into the basics of reading and understanding options chains on TradingView. An options chain is a list of all available options contracts for a given underlying asset, showing different strike prices, expiration dates, and premiums.
It helps traders to evaluate and make decisions about buying or selling options. We’ll explain key components you’ll encounter when looking at an options chain, such as the expiration date, bid, ask, volume, open interest, and the Greeks like Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, and Rho.
The expiration date shows when the option contract will expire, while the bid and ask represent the price at which buyers are willing to purchase and sellers are willing to sell. The Greeks provide insight into how the price of an option will move relative to changes in various factors, such as the underlying asset’s price, time decay, and implied volatility.
