Last week I went on a trip to Paris, where I played at a couple of open mics and met up with my Parisian friend, Patrick Gueguin. We were sitting playing and singing rock 'n' roll songs by the Seine, when Patrick suggested we record a video. I was just about to start singing when a fellow with a guitar on his back came walking down the path. He said he was a harmonica player, so I asked him to join me in the video, and he kindly agreed. His name is David Chalumeau ...what a great player! Check him out on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc. Thank you very much Patrick (whose voice can be heard at the beginning of the video) for being the cameraman. Unavoidably, the sounds of the city and the river can be heard in the video.
This humorous Chuck Berry song is a re-working of his 1957 song, School Days. Usually I restrict the songs I play on this channel to those that were recorded or released in the 1950s, but on this occasion I've made an exception - 'No Particular Place to Go' was recorded in March 1964.
That first chord is an 'augmented' chord by the way. I play the song in the key of E, so that chord is a Baug. Chuck played it in the key of G, so he played a Daug chord. A song sheet containing the lyrics and chords I play can be viewed or downloaded from my songbook blog here: https://jezquaylesongbook.home.blog/g...
