BIOGRAPHY
Marc-André Gautier's musical career took off at the tender age of 9 when the young virtuoso took first prize in the Canadian Music Competition. Not satisfied with a mere win, his near-perfect score of 99.8% set the record for highest mark in the history of the competition. This tour-de-force performance caught the attention of Canada's most renowned orchestras. He was soon performing with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Ottawa, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. At 14 years old, Marc-André was invited to play in front of more than 100,000 people at the Canada Day celebration in Ottawa.

A veritable child prodigy incarnate, awards and first prizes proliferated: the Concertino Praga (Czech Republic), the French Music Competition, a YTV Achievement Award, the I Musici Competition, the prestigious Premio Paganini International Violin Competition (Italy), the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, as well as the 29th Radio-Canada National Competition. He has taken home first prize in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition twice and earned the Grace Elliott Trudeau Prize for Excellence in Performing.

Born with a violin in his hand, Marc-André has also studied at the world's best music schools: the Calgary Conservatory, Indiana University (with Myriam Fried), the Salzburg Mozarteum, Switzerland's Verbier Academy and Festival, Chicago's Steans Institute for Young Artists, Israel's Second Jerusalem Chamber Music Encounters (with Isaac Stern). He finished his studies at the age of 22 with a Doctorate from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris.

La carrière de Marc-André Gautier démarre sur les chapeaux de roue alors qu'il est âgé de 9 ans. Jeune virtuose du violon, il remporte le premier prix du Concours de musique du Canada. Il ne se contente pas de terminer bon premier, il obtient aussi la meilleure note de l'histoire de ce concours avec un quasi-parfait 99,8%. Ce tour de force lui ouvre la porte des plus grands orchestres du Canada. Il se produit notamment avec l'Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, l'Orchestre du Centre National des Arts d'Ottawa et l'Orchestre Symphonique de Toronto. À 14 ans, Marc-André est invité à jouer devant plus de 100 000 personnes à Ottawa à l'occasion de la fête du Canada.
Véritable incarnation de l'enfant prodige, il multiplie les premiers prix dans les concours: Concertino Praga (Tchécoslovaquie), Concours de musique française, « YTV Achievement Awards » et Concours I Musici. Il est lauréat du prestigieux Concours International de violon Premio Paganini (Italie), du Concours International de violon d'Indianapolis de même que du 29ème Concours National de Radio- Canada. Il rafle en plus à deux reprises le premier prix du Concours de l'Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal et se mérite le Prix Grâce Elliott Trudeau pour l'excellence de l'interprétation.
