After a smooth ride up to 145, the final piece of the puzzle awaited and we got ourselves a treat. We got a very smooth journey through midday hours and something that was rather interesting about this roundtrip was that when we left Brighton Beach, there was clear skies, and there was a little bit of sunshine. However, as we got back to Brighton Beach, the clouds started to swarm the city because later on in the evening, a giant blizzard would hit the city and deliver us 8 to 12 inches worth of snow that would’ve continued through the next day. I would eventually try the {F} Express Train, but due to the upcoming blizzard, my train got sent local abruptly and it wasn’t even snowing yet. We haven’t had such a large snowstorm like this in 4 years so it’s kind of cool to go back to the roots of blizzards again. Something we have not seen with the subway in years is what they do when at least 8 inches of snow hit the city. Whenever that does happen, MTA usually will suspend all outside train operations so that they can clear the track for safety. MTA started this habit in 2010 because prior to that strategy, there was one time where an (A) Train heading to Far Rockaway got stuck in the snow by Howard Beach and it severely disrupted service and people had to be rescued. It’s very smart and too much snow can be a safety hazard. Something else that was cool was that we saw a Flatbush Av Bound (2) Train as we we entered 7 Av. That opening in the wall outside of 7 Av is a cool spot. I wanna wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope you all spend time with your families and loved ones as we approach the new year.
