The problem of domestic violence in Jamaica is at a crisis level. In just the second month in 2020 several murder-suicides between initmate partners have been recorded. As a Apostolic/Pentecostal youth group established within the tertiary sector we have decided this year to add our voice to the national conversation against domestic violence and support it with action by giving to affected youth/children.
The proceeds from UCAFEST have been used to fund national events, our campus ministries and scholarship fund. This year, in addition to those objectives, we will be donating to funding the education of children who have been orphaned by domestic violence. In partnership with the Office of the Children's Advocate the donated funds will be used to offset or cover costs associated with the 2020/2021 academic year for the benefiting students.
