Taxonomy Recognition Day is a reminder that without a deep understanding of nature through taxonomy, we cannot effectively protect what remains. Scientists at the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences are therefore joining the European project TETTRIs, which connects institutions across the continent in an effort to raise the profile and promote taxonomy not only in science but also in practical conservation.
The public can support taxonomy and its importance to society in a simple way:
📷 Take a picture of your favourite animal, plant or mineral
🔤 Give it the taxonomic name (we are here to help if necessary!)
🤳 Share it on Social Media with the hashtag #nameittosaveit
