Paddy Mayne was a Northern Irish soldier, athlete, and one of the founding members of the British Special Air Service (SAS) during World War II. Before the war, he was a successful rugby international, known for his strength and aggressive style. During the war, he became famous for leading daring raids behind enemy lines in North Africa, Italy, and France, often destroying enemy aircraft and infrastructure with small, mobile units. Mayne’s fearless leadership, combat skill, and unconventional tactics earned him multiple decorations, including the Distinguished Service Order with three bars. He remains one of the most legendary figures in special forces history.
