The Taliban, which remains in power in Afghanistan, continues to hold Americans hostage. One of them is 64‑year‑old Colorado resident Dennis Coyle, an academic researcher who lived legally in Afghanistan for nearly two decades before being kidnapped by the Taliban last January. His family went nine months without knowing whether he was alive and says he has now spent 353 days held alone in a basement room. They are pleading for the U.S. government to intervene and bring him home.
