Making the most delicious Vadde/Vedah

The jury is out on the spelling of the name of these tasty fried snacks. But everyone agrees that they are the best fried snacks to have before or after a meal, with tea!
Ingredients
2 cups pea dhal (soaked overnight)
2 dry chillies (soaked for an hour)
5 cloves of garlic
2 tsp whole jeera
2 tsp dhania powder
2 tsp jeera powder
2 level tsp salt
2 level tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp sugar
1 medium onion finely cut
2 green chillies (add more or remove for according to taste)
8 stems of spring onion
1 handful dhania leaves
1 large mug of oil for frying
