Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate - Solo Grandmaster Starcrossed Completion w/ Tier 4 & RNG Tier 5 Loot Rewards / A Tier 400+ Starcrossed. Just a video showing a solo clear of a grandmaster version of Starcrossed in the Pinnacle Ops portal, rewarding tier 4 loot. Details and thoughts below.
So this is the sort of content where I start to ask myself: "who is this even for?". It feels like it's mostly irrelevant unless you're in the niche situation of also happening to be at around 400 power and looking to get some bonus tier 4 loot, instead of power farming to 450 for a higher chance at tier 5s. But outside of that, it's kind of hard to see a reason of how this would be helpful unfortunately.
If you're at 400 power and loading into a GM activity, it no longer feels like an actual "grandmaster" level activity. You're the same sort of power level as the activity, and it begins to feel like expert or master with a similar deficit, just with a couple of extra champions. So it could effectively be just a normal Starcrossed completion. So then the question becomes, do I crank up all of the modifiers to make it more challenging? But who does that serve? It makes the run about 10x longer and less interesting to watch, even if it's overcoming a "challenge". Nobody ends up interested in that, especially on an old exotic mission that most people didn't like at the time it released. Do I swap builds to make different setups work? That also feels counterintuitive, as this is a simple and effective way to farm the mission, and all of the armour and stats I've farmed up until this point are to suit this build. Do I do this with more of a power handicap? Well, the system doesn't really work that way, and falls under cranking up the difficulty for no real reason.
So what I'm left with: here's just a casual clear of the mission that I was doing, it happens to be on grandmaster, and I got tier 4 loot from it in hoping I can get some better rolls while farming. Use a sword if you want to go faster. I wanted to see how the GL felt and having a heavy weapon that does something other than Eager Edge. I'll put an emphasis on tier 4 loot in the title as somebody might want to see how to get that too.
Once I've reached 410 and completed the final conquests that's available, I'll swap to other classes and builds. I'll probably do a similar run as this with Kell's Fall to round out the pinnacle ops, along with the final grandmaster conquest delve. I also think raids and dungeons are having their -10 power removed next week, so maybe I can revisit some of those as it'll make more sense.
Lastly, I'll stop going on about the state of the game and just stick to posting gameplay as I normally always have in future videos. I've generally always stuck to gameplay only, and with all the negativity lately I don't want to be adding onto that. I think I've said all I need to say, and anything else would just be repetitive and fruitless. So I'll just leave it to notes about each run as per usual. Regardless, hopefully somebody still finds these videos helpful.
