For the Gulab Jamun Dough:
• 1 cup (250 ml) milk
• 2 cups (about 250 g) milk powder (any brand)
• 2 tablespoons melted ghee (or oil as an alternative)
• 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 2 pinches baking soda
• 1 teaspoon water (to activate baking agents)
• 2 tablespoons refined flour (maida)
• Optional: Water or milk (1–2 teaspoons if dough feels dry)
• Optional: Pistachios or raisins (for stuffing)
For the Sugar Syrup:
• 3 cups sugar
• 2 cups water
• 1 teaspoon rose water or kewda essence
• 2–3 cardamoms, crushed
• Few strands of saffron
For Frying:
• Oil or ghee, as required for deep frying
