Hello friends, all the tips are in this instructions section.
Hello everyone, today I'd like to talk about Phalaenopsis orchids.
It's currently Phalaenopsis orchid blooming season. If your Phalaenopsis orchids were kept indoors during the summer, they've already bloomed. For those kept outdoors in the summer, now is the crucial time to encourage flowering. Actually, Phalaenopsis orchids kept outdoors in summer don't bloom as easily as those kept indoors. This is because the sunlight outdoors in summer is too intense, shining from morning till night. Phalaenopsis orchids actually prefer partial shade; they like bright morning sunlight or evening sunlight. So, at this time, you can place them on an east-facing windowsill or near a west-facing windowsill. However, don't place them directly on a west-facing windowsill, as the direct sunlight could scorch the leaves. The afternoon sun from the west is still very hot and could easily burn the leaves. In that case, just place them in a bright spot near a west-facing windowsill, and they will still produce flower stalks. In addition, with sufficient light, it's time to apply more fertilizer to promote flowering. I usually use orchid-specific fertilizer sold in the market. This orchid-specific fertilizer you see is available everywhere. Flower shops and online stores sell it. If you can't find it there, you can use regular flower-promoting fertilizers from the market, using those with similar ratios. Just dilute it slightly. Whether it's orchid-specific fertilizer, commercially available orchid-specific fertilizer, or any fertilizer similar to orchid flower-promoting fertilizer, it's best to use only one-quarter of the recommended dosage. I actually use even less than one-quarter. I only add a little fertilizer every time I water it.
Every time I water it, in addition to using orchid-specific fertilizer, I add two to three teaspoons of garlic water. This garlic water is made by slicing garlic cloves and soaking them in water for 48 hours. After 48 hours, it can be used no matter how long you leave it, just add a little to the water. For example, adding two or three teaspoons of orchid-specific fertilizer to one liter of water when watering Phalaenopsis orchids doesn't actually produce any odor. I've tried this for a period of time and found there's no odor. However, adding garlic water makes a difference. Adding garlic water will make its leaves more glossy, the flower buds appear healthier, and each flower's color more vibrant.
Garlic water also has other advantages. It can repel insects; some insects dislike the smell of garlic water. While humans can't smell it, insects are more sensitive and can detect it. Therefore, it can repel many insects and improve the orchid's disease resistance. Garlic also contains phosphorus and potassium, which promote the orchid's growth. Furthermore, garlic is a food ingredient, so it's not a chemical fertilizer; it's a food that humans can eat, and its fermentation process makes it milder than chemical fertilizers. The effect is even better when used in conjunction with orchid-specific fertilizers purchased from stores or online. These are some of my tips for growing orchids.
While home orchid cultivation may not offer the same comprehensive facilities as professional growers or florists, we can still improve the process ourselves. When using orchid-specific fertilizer, try adding some garlic water – you might be surprised by the results. Okay, that concludes today's video on promoting flowering in orchids.
