溪湖鎮（臺灣話：Khe-ôo-tìn）位於台灣彰化縣的地理中心，面積約32平方公里，位於彰化隆起海岸平原與舊濁水溪沖積扇接觸處，舊濁水溪及麥嶼厝溪斜貫本區，海拔約15-18公尺年均溫約23°C，年雨量不足1500毫米。北為埔鹽鄉，西為二林鎮，南為埤頭鄉、田尾鄉、永靖鄉，東為埔心鄉。南北向有中山高速公路與省道台19線縱貫，東西向有縣道148號、縣道146號橫貫，交通便利。今日之溪湖以溪湖果菜市場公司、溪湖糖廠的觀光小火車、冰棒、軍機公園、羊肉爐、溪湖巨峰葡萄著名。溪湖有三寶「糖廠、葡萄、羊肉爐」。

1919年(大正8年)辜顯榮家族合併舊式糖廍成立「大和製糖會社」，次年併入「明治製糖株式會社」為溪湖製糖所(今溪湖糖廠)，並建有通往鹿港與員林的糖業鐵路，客貨兼營，溪湖市街因而形。此糖廠曾為濁水溪以北最大糖廠，並設有專門給製糖會社日人子弟就讀的溪湖尋常小學校(今湖南國小)，2002年已停止製糖，轉型成蘭花栽培及肉品加工、冰品製造等多角經營。1973年糖業鐵路停駛，以公路聯外。國道一號(中山高速公路)員林交流道位於本鎮巫厝。荷婆霖肇宮奉祝三山國王，為全臺最早的三山國王廟。

The sugar industry railway between Hong Kong and Yuanlin is operated by both passenger and freight, and Xihu City Street is thus formed. This sugar factory used to be the largest sugar factory in the north of Zhuoshuixi, and there was a Xihu Ordinary Primary School (now Hunan Elementary School) specially designed for Japanese children of the sugar society.
