We departed Sandat Hotel Legian around 7 AM for the first day of our island hopping adventure. We stopped by Livingstone for breakfast. Other guests were already seated there, including backpackers heading out for their own journeys and regulars getting in some exercise. The day before, I'd checked in at Monsieur Spoon Petitenget across the street. Both establishments have their own unique charm and open early, making them perfect for early birders. The only downside is that the traffic can be quite congested during rush hour. I've included a photo of the spectacular traffic jam at the end of the video. We arrived at the Nungnung Waterfall entrance at 10 am and were able to descend to the falls with minimal difficulty.
The lighting was poor, with the sun slanting onto the spray, scattering it in a chaotic pattern. The water spot on the neutral density filter was a real pain. All the gear was scattered in the mud, looking a bit messy. The pics often left me with a half-dressed, bikini-clad ghost. Finally, after I packed my gear into my waterproof bag, I was alone at the foot of the waterfall.
