Originally, the stars of the Lesser Bear were the wings of the dragon. They were separated by Thales of Miletus (625-547 B.C.) and made into the Lesser Bear. It is related that Thales, whilst stargazing, once fell into a deep ditch. His servant who helped him out could not help laughing.
Ursprünglich waren die Sterne des Kleinen Bären die Flügel des Drachens. Thales von Milet (625 - 547 v. Chr.) trennte sie ab und machte sie zum Kleinen Bären. Von Thales erzählt man, er sei beim Sterngucken in eine tiefe Grube gefallen. Seine Dienerin, die ihn herauszog, konnte sich vor Lachen
nicht mehr halten.
