Richard I. Bong was an American war hero after he shot down 40 enemy planes in the South Pacific. When he returned home in 1945 to take an assignment as a pilot for the new P-80A jet fighter, he didn't realize it would result in the end of his life in a North Hollywood dirt lot.
Jeff visits the site of the August 1945 air crash outside of Burbank, Californis and retells the story of this forgotten hero and his new bride who went on without him.
