Overnight - Superior Hiking Trail | Day 1 – Cascade River to East Poplar River, MN

Day 1 of my 5-day backpacking trip on the Superior Hiking Trail begins at Cascade River State Park and ends at the East Poplar River campsite. This section of trail features stunning fall color vistas, rugged forest terrain, and several beautiful waterfalls along the way.
The hike follows scenic ridgelines through Minnesota’s North Shore wilderness — a perfect mix of challenge and beauty. The brilliant autumn colors, rushing rivers, and peaceful woods set the tone for an incredible multi-day adventure on the SHT.
