Kristin Scott Thomas had to be persuaded to play Clementine, the wife of Winston Churchill, in the Darkest Hour, the biopic featuring Gary Oldman as Churchill meeting some of the greatest challenges of his career.
Her research into the role exposed her to a side of the couple she had not experienced before.
