It can be tempting with a luthier-built guitar to always expect or prefer the less common or "upgraded" tonewoods, but this Traugott is proof that you shouldn't undervalue the old classics. When Indian rosewood is used well, it's amazing, and Jeff brought out the best of it on this BK model. It's warm and woody, just a bit scooped out in the mids, with a restrained but satisfying sustain. Another tonewood not to be underestimated, Sitka spruce tops it off and delivers a wonderfully articulate voice. The essence of a versatile guitar, this mid-sized model is 16" across the lower bout, with a slim body and a tighter waist, making it akin to Martin's 0000. It's really responsive for fingerstyle, but with plenty of room to dig in and get snappy.
