Chris Hipkins: "What Tākuta Ferris, and now John Tamihere, have been saying, is incompatible with the sort of Government I want to lead. And if that is going to be the ongoing position of the Maori Party, that is going to make it very difficult for a future Labour Government to work with them."
Te Pāti Māori were in Parliament today for the first time since the controversial social media posts by party member Tākuta Ferris. They refused to take questions in English proposing that it was because it was Maori Language Week but it also meant they only had to answer questions from Maori speaking journalists, thus avoiding questions regarding Tākuta Ferris' racist remarks from other journalists.
