The Method of Sa'i (Ritual Walk between Safa and Marwah):
Initiating the Sa'i
When you begin the Sa'i, ensure that you are starting specifically from As-Safa. As a marker, there are boards saying "Start of Safa" at the place to begin the Sa'i.
The Two Green Markers (Milain Akhdarain):
While going towards Al-Marwah, when you near the "Milain Akhdarain" (the two green lights/markers), men should adopt a slightly hurried pace (a light run). During this part, this supplication is reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْاَعَزُّ الْاَکْرَمُ
Translation: "O my Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for indeed You are The Most Mighty, The Most Honourable."
Apart from this specific location, you can make any other Du'a (supplication) you wish, as it is a place of acceptance. Upon reaching Al-Marwah, face the Qibla and make Du'a. This completes one round (Shawt).
Then, proceed from Al-Marwah back towards As-Safa. Again, between the two green markers, men should adopt a slightly hurried pace. Upon reaching As-Safa, face the Qibla and make Du'a. This completes the second round.
Continue this pattern until you complete seven rounds. You will finish your seventh round at Al-Marwah.
