Avoid These Mistakes On The Captain Cook Monument Hike

Reviews on the Ka'awaloa/Captain Cook Monument Trail Hike say its a moderate out and back 3. 2 mile hike with a 1300 foot elevation gain. They don't mention how many people get airlifted out of this area due to injury and heat stroke. Many hikers, knowing they will be swimming/snorkeling at the bottom fail to wear proper shoes and don't bring enough water.

I did not mention it in the video, but you can see on the way back up that I have my shirt on my shoulders. I purposely put it in the ocean so I would have a cool damp cloth on me to get me through the first 30 minutes back up the trail, as that is the most brutal part as you head back directly into the sun! Anything to help cool you down AND drink plenty of water.
