How Amsterdam is solving its urban food waste problem

A consortium of Dutch cities, including Amsterdam, are currently testing food grinders to reduce waste and create new products from our leftovers.
Unlike other food grinders which dispose of waste through sewers, this initiative is developing a system where water is the only byproduct. AMS Institute is hosting an experimental simulation of the system in Amsterdam as part of a number of projects aiming to help the city become fully circular by 2050.
