In this video, we will explore the unique nature trail of Vasai-Virar’s historic bavkhal (traditional water ponds). Under the guidance of expert botanist Mr. Godambe, we’ll discover the region’s biodiversity, flora and fauna, as well as the natural and historical significance of these bavkhals.

We’ll also interact with Vasai’s bavkhal expert and water conservationist Sachin Murti, who, since 2011, has been on a mission to preserve Vasai’s traditional ponds. Thanks to his efforts, more than 500 bavkhals have been mapped, and local communities are once again reconnecting with their water heritage.
