A Groundbreaking Project
When the bridge was built in the early 1990s, it was a revolutionary project. The planners ventured into territory dominated by the concrete industry - using wood as the main material. The Technical University of Graz designed the bridge as a model project, aiming to prove what timber construction could achieve.

At 85 meters long, the Holzeuropabrücke remains Europe's longest wooden bridge approved for heavy-load traffic. Yes, you read that right: trucks can cross it without any problems!
