In this solo wild camping adventure in the Black Mountains, I hike up Waun Fach in what starts as perfect weather – until 70+ mph winds hit the summit. 🌬️
I manage to reach the top, but the conditions are too extreme to camp safely. I bail off the peak, drop down to look for a safer spot, and then face an unexpected mental battle: homesickness and the reality of solo wild camping UK. In the end, I decide to pack up in the dark and head home.
If you’re into wild camping Wales, solo hiking UK, or want to know when you should quit a camp in bad weather, this trip is for you.
