บอกเล่าเรื่องราวของ ไดโงะ อากาวะ ตำรวจหนุ่มคนใหม่ที่ย้ายไปประจำการที่หมู่บ้านคุเงะในญี่ปุ่น ชีวิตของไดโงะเหมือนจะเริ่มต้นได้สวย จนกระทั่งเกิดเหตุการณ์สุดสยองซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่าในหมู่บ้าน อาทิ การเสียชีวิตอย่างปริศนาของผู้เฒ่าในหมู่บ้าน ทำให้ตัวเขาเริ่มสงสัยถึงความผิดปกติของคนในหมู่บ้านแห่งนี้ในสถานการณ์ที่ท้าทายและเต็มไปด้วยปริศนาเช่นนี้ ไดโงะจะสามารถไขคดีเพื่อจับตัวผู้ร้ายและนำความสงบกลับมาสู่หมู่บ้าน ก่อนที่จะสายไปได้หรือไม่
