Solar Chimes Installation Art

Solar Chimes: a collaboration between installation artist Terry Marashlian and musician Greg Snedeker. This is a wonderful example of a professional STEAM project. The chimes are installed inside of the mounted solar panels. The internal circular row on top plays the melody, the row below plays the accompaniment. The installation piece is interactive as you will see in this video. This allows audience participation in controlling how the melody and accompaniment interact. Similar to wind chimes responding to the wind, this solar installation art is powered by the sun, but can be overridden by toggle switches. The intensity of the sun will also determine the tempo/speed of the music. Enjoy!
