I used to play that song when I was a teenager. Calvin Russel was the perfect anti-hero, with his beat up face and his unaltered dreams. He seemed like he was the Bukowski of Blues Rock. Years later... I was on tour, and I met a filmmaker who was working on a script about an anti-hero kinda bluesman à la Calvin Russel... I wanted the role. The next day I asked a friend with a camera to film me doing the song. One take. Thank God the lyrics were still fresh in my memory. The film was not gonna be made... but this is a souvenir.
