Captain Beaky Animation

In the Animation portion of VCE VET Creative and Digital Media 3/4, I thought it was a brilliant idea to animate my favourite childhood poem, the story of "Captain Beaky and his Band". This story (originally released on vinyl in 1977) holds a near and dear space in my heart and childhood. My father introduced me to works of Shakespearean actor, Keith Michell and his rendition of Jeremy Lloyds "Captain Beaky". In the song, Keith Michell informs the audience that, "The bravest animals in the land are Captain Beaky and his band That's Timid Toad, Reckless Rat, Artful Owl and Batty Bat They march through the woodlands singing songs That tell how they have righted wrongs." The story fit so very perfectly with the brief that was set out to me and after getting the thumbs up from various people such as my CDM teacher I gave it a red hot go. During the span of the animation SAC, I completed all units of competency including developing an inspiration collage, a thorough plan adhering to the brief given to me by my teacher, working through all aspects of the design process, character design mockups, developing walk cycles, creating a storyboard and/or animatic and then producing said animation.
