Key Text: Luke 1.79
Summary: The world today isn't much different than the world some 2000 years ago in
which Jesus was born. The world was a dark place then, as it is now. There was chaos
and confusion then, just as there is today. Things like politics, power, and wealth
dominate society today, and they did in those days, too! Before Jesus was born, the
people of God were desperate to hear a word from God. It had been some four
hundred years since the last prophetic voice called out. What they didn't know, what
they couldn't have known, was that a prophetic voice would rise from one who had
been struck silent, and the words he would speak would be words of peace. The kind
of peace that turns everything in this world upside down, so God can set things right
side up.
Bottom Line: The way to experience the peace of God is to come to know the
Peace of God.
